- The 27th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Informatics for Diabetes Mellitus

It is my great pleasure to announce that the 27th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Informatics for Diabetes Mellitus (JSIDM) will be held over two days, August 7 and 8, 2027, at the Ito International Research Center. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the members of JSIDM, as well as to its former presidents and everyone who has devoted themselves to its development.
The theme of this meeting is "From Data to Action ― Diabetes care that connects medicine and daily life through AI and real-world data ―".
In the field of diabetes care, an unprecedented volume of data is accumulating: electronic medical records, continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), personal health records (PHR), and daily logs of diet and exercise. However, data does not create value simply by being collected and stored. We believe it gains true value only when it is transformed into "action" for each individual patient. There is still a wide gap between observing trends in blood glucose and translating that insight into changes in the next day's meals and exercise. The keys to bridging this gap are artificial intelligence (AI) and real-world data (RWD).
With AI and RWD as catalysts, we aim to connect the medical care provided inside hospitals with the daily lives patients lead outside them, and to chart a path that turns data into action and action into health. This cannot be achieved by healthcare professionals alone; it requires the insights of researchers and the strengths of companies that develop and provide information systems, devices, and services. I sincerely hope that this meeting will become a "starting point" where people from diverse backgrounds bring their wisdom together to draw that path.
The meeting will bring together experts engaged in research and practice in the fields of diabetes and data science, and we are preparing a rich and varied program including special lectures, educational lectures, symposia, hands-on seminars, and luncheon seminars. We are working hard to make this meeting not merely a place to share research findings, but an opportunity for participants to engage in lively discussion and take home concrete insights that help address real-world challenges and support behavior change in patients.
We look forward to your guidance and support in making this meeting a rewarding experience for all participants.
